Wow, I would go here everyday if I could. Efficient ordering process, pay first then order then leave if you're not dining in. They had so many flavors and you get a glop of Panna on top. Quality flavors and comes with a cone. 5€ for 2-3 flavors. I got pistachio, coffee and black cherry, all so good and creamy.

This was such a fun visit!! One of the longest run gelato places and owned by the same family for many years!!! Same family as the one near the Trevi, but in a quieter neighborhood and filled with a fun loving staff of family members. You will feel like you are in a Seinfeld episode. This is the way to enjoy your sweets!! The flavors were incredible. The chocolate sooooo chocolate-y it’s awesome.

The best ice-cream in Rome! Very friendly staff, it's a very traditional and local feel too and Certainly not a tourist hotspot, which means it's much quieter and more relaxed. Really good with Gluten free options too. Highly recommend!

This is THE place to get authentic gelato in Rome! This place has been family operated for over a century and has the prestige of being listed as a historical shop of excellence by Associazione Negozi Storici d'Eccellenza Roma. To qualify, the shop must be managed by the same family for at least 3 generations for over 70 years in the same product sector and in the same premises within the perimeter of the historic city. The flavors are absolutely amazing with a smooth, creamy texture. We recommend rum raisin, coffee, almond, or pistachio.

Giolitti is the legit OG gelato spot in Rome, As the story goes, they opened a dairy in 1890 to sell milk from their creamery in the Roman countryside, and with the quality of their products became suppliers to the Italian royal family. Soon after they opened the gelateria in Centro Storico near the Pantheon, with stores in Testaccio and EUR, and the rest is history. It's fresh, the gelato is hand made, and they also sell pastries, tiramisu, and fresh milk. Try the affogato, a scoop of zabaione (sabayon gelato made with eggyolk custard, sugar, and marsala wine) in espresso. Open late until 1:30am

This was a great little fine for us. The staff was super nice and we could order drinks and gelato and enjoy them both at the same time. The building was undergoing renovations when we were there, but it still was a very pleasant experience.

Nestled in the heart of Rome on Via Amerigo Vespucci, Giolitti stands as a timeless beacon of Italian gelato craftsmanship. Since 1890, this family-run gelateria has perfected the art of Gelato Artigianale, earning its place as a historical shop of excellence and a cherished local treasure. Walking into Giolitti is like stepping back in time—an authentic experience where quality and tradition blend seamlessly with warm, friendly service.

The menu is a celebration of flavors, from the rich, velvety Chocolate Fondente to the delicately creamy Pistachio Baklava, each scoop telling its own story of artisanal dedication. One cannot miss the iconic Gelato Italiano crowned with a generous dollop of freshly whipped panna, adding a luscious finish that elevates every bite. The Maritozzo Con Panna, a Roman-style sweet bun filled with rich cream, offers a perfect balance between pastry and gelato, capturing the essence of a true Roman breakfast.

The coffee offerings, such as the Caffè Freddo Con Panna and the indulgent Espresso Con Sabbayone, complement the gelato expertly, creating a harmonious pairing that awakens the palate. For adventurous palates, the zabaione gelato—infused with marsala wine—provides a sophisticated twist, embodying both tradition and innovation.

What truly sets Giolitti apart is the unmistakable quality of its ingredients and the smooth, creamy texture that defines every flavor. Whether you opt for the nutty almond, the bold rum raisin, or the fruity freshness of strawberry and mango, each spoonful is a testament to craftsmanship passed down through generations. As one reviewer fondly notes, the experience is comparable to being part of a lively Roman family gathering—full of joy, flavor, and warmth.

Giolitti also maintains a welcoming atmosphere that is refreshingly free from the tourist rush, allowing visitors to savor their gelato in a calm and authentic environment. The gluten-free options further highlight their commitment to inclusivity without sacrificing taste.

For anyone seeking not just gelato but a genuine taste of Rome’s culinary heritage, Giolitti offers an unmatched journey. From the first creamy bite to the last lingering flavor, this iconic gelateria invites you to savor centuries of tradition, passion, and delicious innovation.
